Default Can I use DTS to mange Backup & Retore to a Standby Server? - 06-01-2006 , 10:49 AM

How to use a DTS, FSO to move copy the backup of the database to the secondary
server and manually restore it in the event of a failure?

I have a minimal amount of experience w/FSO, mostly exsits and copying of files,
but not with getting the file date to know which backup to copy when there are
many days of backups in a folder.

Followup question is there a way to tweak the Maint Plan to delete files older
than although it is not the folder that the backups are originally placed in?

TIA

JeffP....

Hello JPGMTNoSpam (AT) sbcglobal (DOT) net,

I think the maint plan can only delete the files in a certain folder.
So in your directory you have may files (backups but they could be for a
whole range of dates)

How many times do you backup? If you only do it the once then why not just
look for files with today's date as the CreateDate and only take those files?
