I've got a problem.

It appears that SQL Server has lost the ability to run an ActiveX Script
within DTS. In my production environment all DTS packages hang
on the ActiveX task in the scripts. I tried to create a new
package with only the Main = DTSTransformStat_OK statement and
that hangs as well. I've created a package with a connection and
an sql statement and that runs fine, but I can't get the ActiveX
script to execute. Since this is a prod environment, I can't reboot
the box.

Anyone have any ideas that could fix this?

This happened again today after I rebooted the server
last night. There is an error in the SQL Agent log
that says

"[LOG] Unable to read local eventlog (reason: The data area passed to
a system call is too small) "

I don't think this is the cause though because it has happened on
other
days when this issue has not arisen. Also, I saw some references
in newsgroups to Dr. Watson, which I didn't find on the server.

Does anyone have an idea what could be causing this?
Does the ActiveX tasks depend on a service or DLL that could
be restarted or reregistered?

I also don't see high CPU usage or memory usage and I don't see
any processes that have been running since the task started.

Any help would be greatly appreciatted.
