Default XPSMTP on 64-bit SQL 2000 cluster? - 10-27-2004 , 02:42 AM

Hi all,

Does anybody know if the XPSMTP extended procedure (or any mail
sending functionality for that matter) works (safely) in a clustered
(active-active) SQL 2000 environment running on 64-bit Windows 2003?

I decided to ask before trying, because the 64-bit environment is
said to be very fragile and the clustering adds even more complexity
to the issue.

Thanks in advance,

Ville Tuomola

To the best of my knowledge the xpsmtp dll is a 32 bit only solution at the
moment regardless of clustering or no. I can't vouch for others but they
should specifically state that they are 64 bit ready before even attempting
to use them.

You need the 64-bit version of XPSMTP for that.

Thanks for your reply! But is it risky to test the dll in a 64-bit
environment, will it just not work or can it mess the server up?

Do you know of any other mail solution that will work for 64-bit?

If you have the 32 bit version then I would not even attempt to use it.

I didn't see anything about a 64 bit version on your web site. I know you
were thinking about it. Did you create a 64 bit version already and if so
where can it be found?

Ville,

Did you find the solution for 64-bit mail?

Thanks,
Leonid

We switched over to using CDonts until there's something out there worth
using, or untill SQL 2005 comes out when we can just use SQL iMail
