Default Windows 2003 and SQL Server 2000 clustering question - 05-17-2004 , 03:26 PM

Hi,

Is it possible for both nodes in a SQL Server 2000 cluster
to open up the same .MDF & .LDF file on the shared array
simultaneously and still be able to perform standard SQL
calls (SELECT, UPDATE & INSERT) without causing
corruption, performance degradation and/or sharing issues.

I understand this is not possible under windows 2000 - is
it possible under windows 2003?

thank you,

Benoit

No. Cluster setup is improved with Windows 2003 Server, but the fundamental
design remains unchanged. Only one host at a time can access a clustered
resource.
