The techrepublic.com article has you download a virtual scsi drive from http://www.robbastiaansen.nl, but he is no longer offering the virtual scsci disk. He says on this page
http://www.robbastiaansen.nl/vmware/vm32w2kcluster.html , |
There nothinbg special about the virtual scsi disk. Its just an old plain
vmware 3 disk file.

the process doesn't work with vmware 4.5 (which is what I have.) |
With vmware 4.5 you can create a plain disk by choosing 'allocate disk space
now' when you create a virual disk. The rest of the procedure is the same.
But the shared disks can get corrupted during a failover.

1) Option 1 - Since vmware 4.0 is still available on eBay, I was thinking about purchasing it there if I could get a copy of the virtual scsi disk download. Is there anywhere else I could download the disk you reference in the article, or is it possible to recreate it? (Is it just a regular virtual disk with the settings mentioned in the article?)
2) Option 2 - What is the iSCSI technique? Are there any drawbacks to doing it that way? |
iSCSI is SCSI over IP. There a two drawbacks: an extra virtual machine and
pre alfa linux software. I am in the process of setting up a website on
this: http://eratosthenes.xs4all.nl/vmwarecluster/
