Default Using 3DNS to access Active/Passive Sql Cluster - 09-07-2004 , 08:46 PM

My teammate and I recently moved a working SQL cluster
into a datacenter. We are using Win2k3 Server and SQL
2000. The problem is that I have a name, let's say 500
that routes to the cluster name, which is 530. If I
register the 530 name in Enterprise Manager it works
great. If I try to register 500, it says server does not
exist. Now 500 is just an alias to 530. If I ping 500,
it resolves to 530 and the ping is successful. If I use
RDP to connect to 500, it takes me to the active node of
the cluster. If I try \\500\x$ to access the shared
storage it works fine. I just cannot register 500 as a
sql server or connect to it via query analyzer. I am
totally lost on this. Any information on this would be
greatly appreciated.
