Default Upgrade NT4.0 Domain To Windows 2003 - 04-01-2004 , 11:06 PM

I have been tasked with migrating our NT 4.0 domain to a Windows 2003 domain structure. I have a Windows 2000/SQL 2000 Cluster running critical applications in my current NT 4.0 domain.

I've created a separate trusted 2003 domain, and I intend to move all of my accounts over to it using the Active Directory Migration Tool. I am concerned about users that have been migrated to the new 2003 domain losing their ability to access the SQL Application Cluster, while it is still in the NT 4.0 domain. I would greatly apreciate any advice that anyone could share with me, regarding the safest way accomplish the migration of this cluster without risking user access

Will there be any risk to Windows based SQL authentication, if I move the user accounts and groups prior to changing the domain membership of the SQL Cluster? Any cross domain issues that anyone knows about? Cluster issues

Thanks in advance for your help

When you change domains your SIDs change and SQL uses the SIDs during
authentication. So you have to resync with the new domain's SIDs.
