You must have SQL 2000 SP3a on the cluster before you can upgrade it to
Windows 2003.

OK...I will upg to sql 2000 sp3...

However,

What about upgrading the O/S on the cluster servers?

I have 2 nodes, cl-1 and cl-2

Can I take CL-2 out of the cluster, UPG CL-2 to win 2003
ent and add back to cluster?

Then do the same with CL-1?

I am trying to get as little downtime as possible...

You should be able to upgrade in-place without disrupting the cluster. Move
all resource groups to cl-1 and upgrade cl-2. Once you can shift resources
back and forth, move to cl-2 and repeat. You may have to remove and
reinstall some SAN drivers during the upgrade, but once they are back in
place, the host node should pick the drives back up with no problem. Be
sure and check with the vendor so you have all necessary drivers BEFORE you
start.

Asymmetrical clusters are not supported or recommended except during a
rolling cluster upgrade. It probably will work, but since clustering is
part of a high availability strategy, why would you want to set up something
known to be less stable than it could be?
