Default two SAN boxes? - 10-06-2004 , 04:51 AM






Hi,

on a two node cluster, Do I need two seperate SAN boxes If
i have to run SQL Servers on a Active/Active clustering?.

Nope. You will need different LUNs on the SAN, but not different SANs.

which i can understand LUN(Logical Unit Number) in context
with clustering.

Real easy way to think about this. A LUN is a virtual disk on the SAN
side, but maps as a physical disk on the OS side. Almost like a RAID
container, but with an extra layer of abstraction in the SAN between the
logical disk construction and the underlying physical RAID disks.
