Default Testing for SQL Cluster - 08-24-2004 , 02:19 AM

I would like to know the kind of test to be done after the fresh installation
of SQL Server on cluster environment. This to ensure the fail over is
happening successfully and confirm the SQL Server Installation on cluster
environment.

This includes both for Active / Active and Active / Passive cluster
environment.

Testing is the same for single and multi-instance with one exception.

Test failover by manually moving groups from host to host and test
connectivity from external clients. If that works, then your cluster is
pretty much ready to go. The onyl consideration for multi-instance clusters
is to make sure the failover path is correct for each node and to make sure
that memory alloations allow you to 'stack' the instances together on one
node if necessary.
