Default Which tcp port to assign to optimize failover cluster performance - 08-31-2008 , 12:50 AM

In order to optimize failover cluster performance, I have read it is useful
to use a static port and not the dynamic port (e.g. 1433). To use a static
port, how I can determine which port number to fix?
Thanks

You can use any port that is not currently used by any other app. But the
deafult port of TCP 1433 is just as good. There is no performance implication
in choosing a different port number.
