Default Starting a Service - 10-29-2008 , 12:33 PM

I have a requirement in a SQL2000 and a SQL 2005 cluster where I'd like to
create a resource within the SQL resource group which would start a service
as part of the failover of the SQL group.

The service cannot be defined as auto start on operating system startup as
the database needs to be on-line before the service can start so requires a
dependency set to the sql server resource & which I know how to configure.
The problem is how to define a resource that starts a service.

Also, On failover, would there be a way to stop the service?

Can someone point me in the right direction for research on how to set this
up.

thks

Why not just cluster the service as a generic service? See the following for
more details:

http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/l.../cc758806.aspx
