Default SQL2K8 Dependency on Mounted Drives - 08-26-2009 , 10:44 AM

Need I make my clustered instance of SQL2K8 (on W2K8) dependent on the
mounted drives where its data lives, or on only those drives' parent?

You should. I know in SQL2005, you don't have to have the dependency, which I
think is a mistake nd I'm not sure if it's fixed in SQL2008. But from a HA
perspective, you should really have that dependency.

It depends.

If the data on the mount point is secondary data such as read-only
partitions, then no. Otherwise, yes you need to set the dependency.
