Default SQL Server 2005 Cluster Intall FAILS - 03-21-2009 , 09:04 PM

I have a two node cluster, each running windows enterprise server 2003,
64-bit edition.

I am logged into node1, which is running the quorum resource.

I am running the setup for SQL 2005 64-bit Standard Edition.

I created a domain account, SQLUser, and added it to the local admin
group on each server.

When I run setup, everything appears to install fine. However, once it
finishes installing database services, the install craps out, and gives
the error "REMOTE SETUP FAILED".
And also
"There was an unexpected failure during the setup wizard. You may review
the setup logs and/or click the help button for more information"

There is NO REMOTE User logged into the passive node. I have tried
running this install from the console and RDP. Task Scheduler service is
started on BOTH SERVERS and running.

This is the latest entry in the log file:

Error: Action "LaunchLocalBootstrapAction" threw an exception during
execution. Error information reported during run:
"C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\90\Setup Bootstrap\setup.exe"
finished and returned: 1603
Aborting queue processing as nested installer has completed
Message pump returning: 1603

Hi Andy,

Thank you for using Microsoft MSDN Managed Newsgroup. My name is Mark Han.
I am glad to work with you on this issue.

From your description, I understand that you would like to install a SQL
Server cluster instance.
If I have misunderstood, please let me know.

in order to help to resolve the issue, I need to analysis the setup log and
the information posted here is too general. So if it is convenient to you,
please send me an email and then I will create a FTP(workspace) for you to
upload the information requested.

I look forward to hearing from you.

Best regards,
Mark Han

You need to post the setup log file from the REMOTE node. Look in there to
find the first occurrance of the word ERROR or FAILURE.
