Default SQL Server 2000 Cluster Does Not Install on Windows Server 2003-Ba - 10-25-2004 , 09:25 PM

I received the following error when installing the SQL Server 2000 on a
WIndows 2003 Server : Setup failed to perform required operations on the
cluster nodes.

You may also receive one of the following error messages in the SQLSTP or
the SQLCLST log files:
Process Exit Code: (2) The system cannot find the file specified.

This error corresponds to Microsoft Knowledgebase Article : 301520
SQL Server 2000 Cluster Does Not Install on Windows Server 2003-Based

My only access to the Windows 2003 Server is with terminal server. Who can
I complete the SQL Server 2000 Virtual Server install with out terminal
server?

Thanks,

Right Click My Computer - Properties - Remote tab - Allow users to connect
remotely to your computer (check it).

Could you post or point me in the right direction as to where to find info

configuring Remote Desktop to function WITHOUT Terminal Server installed?

Hello,

As you have found out from Microsoft Knowledge Base articles, clustered
(i.e. virtual) instances of SQL Server 2000 are NOT supported for
installation on Windows Server 2003 if the Terminal Server (formerly
Terminal Services in Application Server mode) component is installed.

Remote Desktop for Administration is another part of the Terminal
Services technology that is offered in Windows Server 2003. You can
enable remote administration of servers with Remote Desktop for
Administration on any computer that is running the Windows Server 2003
family of products, even if Terminal Server is not installed.

Remote Desktop for Administration is FULLY SUPPORTED in Microsoft SQL
Server 2000.

HTH,
