Current Environment: SQL 2005 Enterprise x64 SP2 Active / Passive cluster running on Windows 2003 Server. Problem: Need to apply OS patches and SP3. Symptoms: When the SQL instance is running on node 1 of the cluster my SQL Login account runs normally. When the SQL instance is failedover to node 2 the following error is displayed. "The user is not associated with a trusted SQL Server connection." I've verified that the server is running mixed mode authentication. We normally failover the cluster for OS patches to reduce (darn near eliminate) downtime during the patch process. Obviously SP3 will require a reboot, so downtime is inevitable with that. Node 2 has been successfully patched, we just need to failover and patch Node 1 before apply the SQL SP. Any guidance will be appreciated. |

Verify that the SQL Service on both nodes is running on the same domain account. Also check that the cluster service accounts match across all nodes. Finally, check domain account memberships for the SQL Specific |
