An error I have encountered are services that are set to
use an account with admin rights. The service pack update
tries to restart SQL Server in single user mode and the
service account has a tendency to "slip in" before the
service pack install progam when SQL Server comes online
again. (Single user is a "first come first served" basis)
Temporary disabling these services solves the issue.

We have an active-passive MSCS Sql cluster. The systems
are running MS Win2k
SP3. We are currently at MS SQL SP1. I try to install SQL
SP3a and it seems
to go ok and after a long wait and it seems near the very
end I get an error
stating installation failed.
Any ideas or help would be appreciated!
