Default SQL Cluster Setup Practice - 01-14-2004 , 03:21 PM

Hi - we would like to perform a test sql cluster setup (on two machines) and
don't have an external drive array. We do have a some compatible servers
and plenty of disk space. What is the cheapest solution for our test? We
don't really care much about performance, just want to get some practice
creating a SQL Cluster on Win 2K.

Thanks,
Chris

for testing purpose, you could use SCSI cables to connect a shared SCSI disk across 2 nodes installed with w2k advanced server. The nodes need to be able to see the shared disk. then start one node up, leave one node down. create partition , basic disk , format and assign a drive letter. then you can use control panel to install the cluster.

You can download a free evaluation copy of vmware (http:\\vmware.com) and
reference my articles on configuring a cluster in vmware.
