Default SQL Cluster First Timer - 08-05-2009 , 01:48 PM

I just wanted to ask someone if wha I have so far was correct. I set 2
Virtual Win 2k8 servers with iscsi connections to the same 100G disk, I then
setup clustering. I have the storage setup as a Disk Witness in Quorum and
it shows me CLuster Disk 1 online 100G. The standby server does not show the
drive except for in disk management as reserved. I then installed sql 2008
clustering and then installed the addtional node on the second node in the
cluster. It looks good, but when I am accessing the database and reboot the
server I loose the database connection and then I check the failover cluster
manager and it shows me cluster down.

SQL put all the files on the "Shared" drive

Thank you for any information.

You got it close.

You need to have multiple storage LUNs. Create a 2GB slice, presented as an
independent iSCSI volume to become the Disk Witness. Then create a second
disk in the cluster to use for SQL Server.

Finally, before installing SQL 2008, run SP1 to patch the install script.
