Default SQL 2008 SP1 installation failing on cluster node #1 - 09-21-2009 , 02:21 PM

I have Server 2008 Enterprise running on two virtual machines, running on a
VMWare ESXi system, with shared disks required all set up. The verification
wizard passed all tests - not even any warnings. I set up the MSCS portion
and installed SQL 2008, chosing the 'New SQL Failover Cluster Installation'
option. All completed successfully, and the single-node SQL 2008 cluster
looks healthy.
Now I want to add the second node of the cluster. I first try to install
SQL 2008 SP1, since I've read this is advisable to do. But each time I run
SP1, it bombs out. Here is the text included in the message:

Description:
Stopped working

Any ideas what to do here?

Thanks
