Default SQL 2008 Cluster - New Installation - 01-16-2009 , 01:49 PM

Hi
I have a client who wants a new SQL Server 2008 Ent(on Windows 2008 Server)
installation. He wants redundancy so I know we can cluster SQL (2 node?). I
unfortunately have no knowledge of SQL clustering so would welcome any
suggestions as to what best practice is. I have of course read in-depth on
the subject but would welcome real-life comment. Any particular references
to easy--to-follow literature would be greatly appreciated

Thanks in advance

First, I would build a test environment and lear about clustering and its
particular quirks. You will need this anyway for testing patching and
cluster deployment techniques.

Second, clustering is merely one element in a highly available
infrastructure. If you have a cluster and nobody knows how to use it
properly, you can end up lowering the overall system availability instead of
raising it.
