Default SQL 2005 and Win2008 Multi-subnet clustering - 06-23-2008 , 12:03 PM

Is this supported?

Details:

2-node Win2008 Ent. Cluster with multiple subnets. Able to successfully fail
back and forth no problem with one subnet coming online at one node and the
other coming online at the other node.

Install SQL 2005 Ent. and it won't come online with the non-active subnet
configured. Removing the secondary interface and it succeeds in coming
online. Add SP2 successfully but still no joy with both interfaces active.

Log sequence below:

2008-06-23 10:39:42.37 Server Server is listening on [ 10.64.28.173
<ipv4> 3433].
2008-06-23 10:39:42.37 Server Error: 26024, Severity: 16, State: 1.
2008-06-23 10:39:42.37 Server Server failed to listen on 10.64.98.34
<ipv4> 3433. Error: 0x2741. To proceed, notify your system administrator.
2008-06-23 10:39:42.37 Server Error: 17182, Severity: 16, State: 1.
2008-06-23 10:39:42.37 Server TDSSNIClient initialization failed with
error 0x2741, status code 0xa.
2008-06-23 10:39:42.37 Server Error: 17182, Severity: 16, State: 1.
2008-06-23 10:39:42.37 Server TDSSNIClient initialization failed with
error 0x2741, status code 0x1.
2008-06-23 10:39:42.37 Server Error: 17826, Severity: 18, State: 3.
2008-06-23 10:39:42.37 Server Could not start the network library
because of an internal error in the network library. To determine the cause,
review the errors immediately preceding this one in the error log.
2008-06-23 10:39:42.37 Server Error: 17120, Severity: 16, State: 1.
2008-06-23 10:39:42.37 Server SQL Server could not spawn FRunCM thread.
Check the SQL Server error log and the Windows event logs for information
about possible related problems.

This document sort of implies that it should work out of the box but I am
unable to find much information on this otherwise.

At TechEd, the SQL folks stated that SQL 2008 will not initally support
multiple subnets. I blogged about it here:

unable to find much information on this otherwise.

Default Re: SQL 2005 and Win2008 Multi-subnet clustering - 06-23-2008 , 12:19 PM

At TechEd, the SQL folks stated that SQL 2008 will not initally support
multiple subnets. I blogged about it here:

Is this supported?

Details:

2-node Win2008 Ent. Cluster with multiple subnets. Able to successfully
fail
back and forth no problem with one subnet coming online at one node and
the
other coming online at the other node.

Install SQL 2005 Ent. and it won't come online with the non-active subnet
configured. Removing the secondary interface and it succeeds in coming
online. Add SP2 successfully but still no joy with both interfaces active.
