Default sql 2005 sp2 cluster - how to add an additional instance. - 05-07-2008 , 06:06 PM

Hello,

I am running into an issue here. I want to create an active/active cluster.
So far I created an active/passive cluster with 1 named instance (no default
instance).

Now I want to create another virtual server group (with IP, Name & Disk
resources) with another named instance. the end result should look like this

CLUSTER_HOST_1
Cluster Group (quorum)
IP Res
Name Res
Disk Res
MSDTC Res
SQL01 Group (named Instance)
IP Res
Name Res
Disk Res
SQL Server (named instance 1)
CLUSTER_HOST_2
SQL02 Group (named Instance)
IP Res
Name Res
Disk Res
SQL Server (named instance 2)

My issue here is that every time I start SQL 2005 SP0 setup, I get an error
that I have to run setup via the command line and include UPGRADE=1.

Long story short, I need to create a new sql 2005 with sp2 instance in my
cluster. Does anyone know how I can get this started?

Are you starting the install from the CD/DVD or from Add/remove programs.
To add a new instance, you should start from CD (or a local copy of the
install media.
