Default SQL 2005 Cluster: Management Studio only on one Node - 02-12-2009 , 06:01 AM

Hello everybody !

I've installed SQL 2005 on a 2 - Node Windows 2008 Cluster - System.

I'm wondering, why there is the Management Studio Express only on one Node
installed ?

The SQL Installation - Wizard has found both Nodes and i think the Installation
should be done on both Nodes automatically, shouldn't it ?

Also i've seen, that the Path "C:\program files\microsoft sql server\90\tools\binn\vsshell\..."
(which includes the Management Studio Executable) only exists on Node A.

Further the "SQL Server Integration Services" are only displayed in Services
- Console of Node A.

I can switch SQL to any Cluster i want and it is working well.
Only the daily Backup - Operation with the SQL Agent is only working on Node
A.

Can somebody please give me hint why that could happened and how i can repair
the Installation an Node B !?

The Client Tools part of the SQL 2005 installer is not cluster-aware.
Neither is Integration Services. You need to install those on each node
individually.

This behavior is normal. You can install the tools and SSIS without
disrupting your cluster. Usually.

I typically install the tools first then come back and install the clustered
SQL instance for this very reason.
