Hi all, we have a w2k3ee server cluster running one instance of exchange as failover cluster. We now would like to use the passive node for a sql instance. A seperate drive has been installed and initialized. The cliconfg has been run and a named pipe alias is created. Running setup ends at the point where You can choose local, remote or virtual because the option for virtual is disabled. What did I forget? regards Carsten |

Are you installing using Enterprise Edition of SQL? Now, I have to ask, you are running a two node cluster with Exchange configured to run on both, only Active on one right? Now you are trying to install SQL on both with it running on only one at a time? What happens when one node fails? Do you have enough resources to run both Exchange and SQL on the same machine at the same time? Have you tested this out? Or is this just a test system? You may, depending on the answer above, be better off adding a third node to do SQL only, leave the first node to do Exchange only, and leave the last to be Passive and failover for both SQL or Exchange, but not both at the same time. Hi Rodney, uups... no not the EE-version but the standard edition. Isn't it instalable on clusters? I guess I have to recheck this... ;-) Indeed it is something like a testsystem, but both nodes are capable carrying both services. None of them is this big and traffic is not the highest. But anyway, thanks for the tip with the third node. I will think of it. Now, I will have to look for an EE-Version of SQL-2000. Another question at this place: Is it possible to stream the servicepack to SQL-installmedia, like with servicepacks on Windows? Thanks in advance Carsten "Rodney R.
