The steps are documented in sp3readme.htm inside service pack (3.10
Installing on failover cluster)

Also this webcast is okay to look. Not much detail but at
least going over what you need to cover.

You may want to review this as well:

joe,

we are running SQL 2000 on Windows 2003, and it is necessary to install
Service Pack 3a on ALL nodes. this is not mentioned in the
documentation, but we found it to be true. these are the steps we used:

1. connect to node 1 and make sure node 1 sql server services are owned
by node 1
2. install SP 3a on node 1
3. reboot both nodes
4. connect to node 2 and make sure node 2 sql server services are owned
by node 2
5. install SP 3a on node 2
6. reboot both nodes

Michael,

To install service pack on a virtual SQL Server 2000, you do not need to
install it on all nodes. If you have a two node cluster with a single
instance of SQL Server 2000 virtual server and you want to install say SP3a
then you just need to install it once on the node that owns the resources.
You will not need to repeat the installation on the second node. SQL Server
2000 setup and service pack for SQL Server 2000 setup are cluster aware and
they will install the necessary files on ALL the nodes of the cluster. If
you review the service pack setup logs you will clearly see the operations
it does on the nodes of the cluster.

Yeah, I have seen some scenarios where they shut down one node (assuming a
two node cluster) and installed SP3a on the other node. Obviously if the
other node is shut down, service pack will not be installed on the shut
node. Then they repeat the operation on second node. I don't know why they
followed this but this is not required. Starting from SQL Server 2000,
installation for virtual SQL Server and service pack setups are very simple
(almost identical to standalone SQL Server).
