Default ServerName - 09-01-2004 , 12:16 PM

Is there a way to find the actual physical server name
that the clustered instance of SQL is running on. I am
setting up a failover to a ModelOffice server and if the
Production instance starts up on the MO Server I would
like to shutdown the MO Instance. I need to know which
physical server I am running on so I do not shutdown MO
unnecessarily if Prod is being rebooted for some reason.
and then fails back to its original server.

You cau use the cluster manager utility to view the owner of the sql virtual
server.

You can run the cluster clustername res "Name of SQL Instance" from the cmd
prompt. If you install the Adminpak.msi on your workstation then
cluster.exe will be available. you need to make sure you are set up in the
cluster security as an admin for this to work.
