Does anyone has experience having

Solaris
True64
VMS
Exchange
SQL Server
Oracle

on 1 SAN solution?
Anyone could comment on it? Personally, this freaks me out.

It seems to work fine for us to share the same SAN among SQL Server, Oracle,
Sybase, Exchange (or any other Winodws servers), Solaris, Linux, and many
other OS platforms, application servers, and file servers, etc.

May I ask you about the manufacturer of your SAN? We have one in mind, but
only HP seems to support VMS and we are looking for other alternatives to
HP.

To second Linchi, it isn't any issue. I use EMC SANs in just about every
case.

The SAN is just data storage. A Windows server will have no clue what to do
with a Unix file system (mostly) just as Exchange Server has no clue about
what to do with Oracle or SQL Server databases. The SAN is just a large
block of disk space at a basic level and storing all different kinds of data
on it presents no problem since the SAN really has no "application
intelligence" since it can not tell the difference between mainframe file
systems, Unix file systems, Windows file systems, or a myriad of file
formats. You could even point your Macs at the SAN to store all of those
weird root/fork thingys and the SAN would not care.
