HI ALL
I have new active/passive sql cluster with the name sql1
is it possible to rename it to my sql production server
name after I retire the old production sql server
with out reinstall sql server on the cluster. I have all
databases transfer to the new cluster server I just would
like to keep the same name as my old sql production.

The proper way to rename a clustered SQL Server 2000 Virtual Server is to
uninstall and reinstall SQL Server 2000 with the new Virtual Server name.

It is not possible to rename a SQL Server virutal server.
You'll have to uninstall/reinstall the instance.
