Default Reboot loop - 10-24-2008 , 07:57 AM

I have one of my cluster nodes going into a reboot loop and I have narrowed
it down to the NIC on the public side.
I troubleshot into safe mode and it booted up fine so I would suspect it is
a piece oof hardware with an issue or a corrupt driver. Did all of the
troubleshooting with MSCONFIG and booting with different scenarios from
settings there and still rebooted each time Windows would load.

Just for grins I unplugged the public NIC and the server booted straight up
and I logged into the node. If I plug the CAT5 cable into the NIC it will
reboot within seconds. Swapped CAT5 cable with the same results.

The heartbeat NIC is functioning fine.

Would you suspect this is a hardware failure?

Yes.

The other major possibility is a bad NIC driver update.
