Hi, We have a MS cluster with two instances of SQL running on it (SQL 2000 Ent and SQL 2005 Ent). Currently, SQL 2005 instance is on SP1. Tomorrow morning we plan on installaing the following on this instance: SQL Server Service Pack 2 SQL Cummulative Update Package 2 SQL Cummulative Update Package 3 SQL Cummulative Update Package 4 My questions is, do we need to reboot after installing each SP/update? My plan is to install SP2, CU2, CU3, and CU4 all in a row and then reboot the cluster server. What is the recommended method and order of reboots? Do I need to worry about anything additional during installations because of it being a cluster? Thank you. |

Applying SPs will need reboot. However I suggest you to test SPs on a test machine first. See if you have any issues with them and so you'll be able to make your plan yourself safely. -- Ekrem Önsoy "Dragon" <noSpam_Badill (AT) hotmail (DOT) com> wrote in message news:uRF$AGIPIHA.4688 (AT) TK2MSFTNGP06 (DOT) phx.gbl... SP2 first. The SP installer will advise whether you will need a reboot or not. Most likely you will. You only need to run SQL CU4 after that. Cumulative updates are "cumulative". CU4 contains the changes in 2 and 3. Again, the installer will tell you if a reboot is necessary. Plan on a reboot anyway, just for scheduling and impact planning. -- Geoff N.
