Answers Inlie "dbcenter" <dbcenter.news.invalid (AT) web2news (DOT) net> wrote in message news:48714N648 (AT) web2news (DOT) com... Hi, I'm completely new to clustering. I'm gathering informations about what's possible with clustering win2k + sql2k, and I'd to know if: a) Is it possible to set up clustering without using Domain ( I'd like to NOT use the AD stuff etc. Just work on workgroup ) Nope. Clustering requires an external domain authentication mechanism. NT4 or AD works fine, but you MUST have one of them. b) We would like to use the cluster for a transactional replication publisher. Is there any issue with this? Works just fine for me. c)Does the following configuration make sense: Cluster with 2 servers, SRV_A and SRV_B SRV_A runs a publisher SRV_B runs a distributor Yes. |

Thanks much for the fast answer. But then I don't understand exactly how I will benefit from the cluster if I need to setup a domain controller. |

Can I configure the domain controller on the same cluster? Or else should I go for a second cluster just to run the domain controller ( looks awfully expensive : 2 more licenses of Win2K Advanced Server for this!??) |
