You first have to replace the cluster node.

Then you may need to update SQL and remove the settings for the old node.
If you reused the node name, SQL cna get very confused.

Run the installer and gte into the Maintaining a Failover Cluster section.
Remove the failed node fom the SQL installation. This may generate some
failure messages but that is OK.

Once setup shows that SQL is only installed on the original working node,
then you can begin to install it to the replacement node.

Hello,

I have a situation that I need to support installed system win2k with
cluster with SQL 2000 cluster mode.

The cluster which had initially 2 nodes one node completely failed and
replaced by new one installed and rejoined to cluster array , now when we
try to install/join the new rebuild node for sql resource I get error.

the error 'Setup failed to perform required operations on the cluster
nodes'.

I trying to figure out what is went wrong by looking on the sqln.log i
couldn't figure it out

Please advice

Thanks
