Are you trying the install from the controlling node of that VS?

If you hae SP3 installed you donot need SP3a on cluster.

I haven't installed sp3 though. When I try to intall sp3a,
it says my VS does not exist on this machine. Did I
install the data files in the wrong location. It points to
the first disk in the cluster

Hello DBA,

I believe the source of all the problems is you have SQL installed on these
Server PRIOR to setting up cluster? If this is correct, SQL needs to be
remove from BOTH nodes prior to configuring a cluster.
