Default RE: Sp3 problem on Cluster SQL2k - 07-08-2003 , 02:22 PM

Have you tried using the domain account that is the SQL
server service account? This may help. I have ran into
this when trying to install SP3 I used my user account
information but it failed. I am an admin on the box. The
other item to check is that the account you are using is
an administrator on both local nodes.

Hope this helps,
Chris

Uttam,
I followed and confirmed all the steps listed below,Still
no success and got the same error.I do not think of any
network or name resolution issue as I'm able to uninstall
and reinstall sql2k,applied sp2 but do not know what is
happening with sp3.Also I built other Sql2k+sp3 cluster
w/o any problem. If you want I can send you the screen
shot
of the error.Let me know.
Thanks for help.

Hi Jayesh,

Here are some things I will do :

1) Is the folder (on the primary node) containing SP3
setup files shared.
If not, share it and make sure it can be accessed by the
secondary node.

2) Log on both nodes using the startup a/c for SQL
Server
service. Make
sure that this a/c is
(i) a domain a/c and is a local admin on both
nodes.
(ii) has the following user rights on both
nodes :

"Act as part of the Operating
system",
"Logon as a Service" and
"Replace a process level token"

(iii) Is in the same domain as the nodes of
the cluster. ?

3) Make sure that there are no networking issues and
name
resolution is
working fine.

4) Stop any unnecessary services on both nodes

5) Run SP3 setup.

Hope this helps.
