When an instance fails over in a cluster from Server A to Server B, does the client detect the outage or lose any information if it's in the middle |

A failover is exactly the same as an unexpected SQL server stop and restart as far as the client can tell. So, all connections are lost for a brief time, any transactions are rolled forward or back depending on their commit status. The client needs to detect the connection failure, reconnect the SQL, and resubmit any failed transactions. -- Geoff N. When an instance fails over in a cluster from Server A to Server B, does the client detect the outage or lose any information if it's in the middle of a transaction? Or does SQL Server remember the transaction, rollback the database, fail over the instance and restart the transaction? Thanks. |
