you can manually check folders, binaries and registry entries on new node to see if there are apparent problems.
use cluadmin to check if the new node has been added to the sql instance resource's possible owner
Then, just move this sql instance to the new node to see if it can start up correctly and work as expected

The correct way to add a second node to a SQL Server 2000 cluster is to use
setup from the CD on the node where SQL server was installed. Look at the
