Default Quorum resource on shared array - 07-13-2004 , 04:28 AM

I had set up HP packaged cluster (DL380 x 2 WIN2K3 + MSA500 with high
availability kit) . On the storade device I have 2 arrays mounted as
volumes. First is 2 36G drives in RAID 0+1 . Second 3 36G drives RAID 5.
The default cluster configuration uses the first array as
quorum resource for SQL group and the second for storage.
I have 2 questions :
1) Is it not overkill to use 36G volume to store 500 megs of data?
2) I would like to use 2 volumes as shared storage. One for database and
another for log. May I use quorum volume for log ?

Probably, but what other choice is there?

You may. I seriously don't recommend it. The whole point for a cluster is
High Availability and such a design really cuts into the reliability and
availability of the cluster.
