Default performance counters fail to load - 03-05-2004 , 01:08 PM

Hello,

Recently I failed one of our production sql server clusters over and
back. When the sql server service started, I got this message in the
sql log- " Performance monitor shared memory setup failed: -1". None
of the sql performance counters are available. I have seen this
before on one of our stand alone servers and a simple reboot solved
the issue. Unfortunately at the time I didn't have the time for
another reboot or to try to troubleshoot the issue since this isn't a
critical issue, so the server is back online. What are my options for
correcting this issue? Reboot, stop and restart of the service,
other? We are running Windows 2000 advanced server(service pack 4),
sql (service pack 3) in a active/passive cluster. Any advice would be
greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Greg
