Default New instance - 12-18-2003 , 12:01 PM

Hi,

We have a SQL 2000 ent in cluster on Windows 2003 ent. on 2 nodes.
We have created an instance called Prod1 and now we want to create a second one called Prod2 on another virtual server than the first because we can't have 2 instance on 1 virtual machine.

My problem is, I have 2 disks for SQL, one is 230gig for the Databases and the other one is 230gigs for Logs.
The first intance is installed and it's using the DB disk.
When I install a new instance, I can't choose to put the Data on my DB disk, I just see the Quorum disk in the setup.

Is it normal? Can I install multiple instance and use the same disk on the storage?

thank you

PC

Each SQL Server 2000 virtual server requires its own disk resources that
CANNOT be used by other instances.

For more information, refer to the topic "Multiple-Instance Cluster" in

You can install multiple instances all of which use the same disk on
the storage if you use SQL MxDB on Polyserve Clustered file System. In
this case all the nodes in the cluster could read/write from the same
disk .
