One "Gotcha" that a lot of people fall into is you cannot be logged into the second node, only the primary, during a cluster install. -- Geoff N. It failed to start the SQL browsing agent. But when I checked both nodes it was running so, I didn't get why it was a problem. But the setup failed and rolled back from there. I did a regular SQL install just to see what would happen and it worked like a charm, so I am guessing that it is something that is just a little off in my clustered env. "Geoff N. OK, Thanks for your help Geoff, I went ahead and tried the install, I have the MSDTC clustered and running, quorum is clustered and running, cluster is healthy and i got 29 out of 29 on the compatiblility checker or whatever that first stage of the install is. I have a different users that is a local admin on all nodes setup for services, I have 3 domain groups setup for sqlserver, sqlagent, and sqltext, and I have a clustered disk setup and visible from both nodes for the SQL cluster group. I went through the install and it failed. What am I missing? I see that some data is installed to the SQL sluster group drive and some to the local E:\ data drive. Is that supposed to work that way. You need enough disk space for all your data. Note that you can and should use multiple LUNs, preferably backed by different physical disks, for data and logs. -- Geoff N. Thanks for that clarification, I just about ready to roll this out. But in reading more posts, I have one more question. Is the shared disk for the cluster groups that I will install SQL Server and Analysis services on where the actual data is going, or is that just a small disk similar to the quorum disk for MSCS? I am asking becuase I only have 3 1GB shared drive presented to each server for needed physical disk requirement to create a new group. I want to make sure I share out 150GB disks to each if necessary for the actual application instance if necessary. "Geoff N. Hiten" wrote: Yes. SQL Server Database Services and SQL Server Analysis services can coexist on the same cluster but need different cluster groups. -- Geoff N. Thanks for your help Russ! I used the documentation and shared disks amonst 2 servers from SAN for 3 different Cluster groups, one for the root MSCS, one for SQL Server, and One for analysis services. Can both Analysis and SQL server be on the same server cluster as long as they have their own separate Cluster Group and their own physical disk? Is this article relevant to 2k3 EE SP2? I see it references no SP and SP1.
