Default Need to add additional NIC to SQL Cluster - 02-10-2005 , 02:31 PM

Hi

We recently built a W2K Advanced server, SQL Ent 2000 cluster.

Each node of the cluster had 2 NIC ports:
1 NIC was used for Cross over cable
Other NIC was used for LAN.

All standard build servers in our environment should have 2 NIC
connections - one going to our normal lan and the other nic connected to the
backup lan.
The powers at be we notified that the cluster was short of one NIC, but the
build was santioned to go ahead.

I now need to know what i need to do in order to add the additional nic to
the cluster and for everything to remain ok....

Please advise...

Cheers Ray

It will depend on the hardware, but basically you would buy a nic,
physically put it in the machine, load the drivers, and configure it with
the appropriate IP settings.

Add the nic. Put it on the backup network. In the cluster uncheck the box
for that new NIC that allows it to function in the cluster
