Default MSP Error: 29512 - 02-24-2009 , 02:20 PM

I am running 64-bit SQL Server 2005 Build 3282 on 64-bit Windows 2003 SP 2.
I have attempted to upgrade to SQL Server Build 3310. I fails on upgrading
MSSQLSERVER with the following message:

Product Installation Status
Product : SQL Server Database Services 2005 (MSSQLSERVER)
Product Version (Previous): 3282
Product Version (Final) :
Status : Failure
Log File : C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\90\Setup
Bootstrap\LOG\Hotfix\SQL9_Hotfix_KB960090_sqlrun_s ql.msp.log
Error Number : 29512
Error Description : MSP Error: 29512 SQL Server Setup was unable
add user MYDOMAIN\SQLAccount to local group MYDOMAIN\SQL_DB.

MYDOMAIN is a domain group and not a local group. The account SQLAccount is
a domain account which belongs to the group MYDOMAIN\SQL_DB. It is also
belongs to the local adminstrators group on the server.
