-----Original Message----- Hello I have two servers in my cluster setup (win2K), each with 8GB RAM. I intend to run two SQL 2000 instances, one on each node. All after a bit of reading up I have come up with the following: use /3GB in boot.ini use PAE in boot.ini use AWE for each SQL instance Limit Max memory to 3.5GB for each virtual server. Does this sound OK? This leaves only 1GB for the OS, and I was going to set the page file to 1GB min and 2GB max - how does this sound? I intend to use Win2K SP4 and SQL 2000 sp3a, are there any issues around this? I seem to remember reading somewhere that SP4 slowed things up. Thanks in advance for any advice Jeff . |

If you're using AWE and going beyond 3 GB, you probably won't have to use the /3GB switch, just /PAE. Use both only if the app needs /3GB. Obviously test first, but /PAE with AWE set in SQL should be fine. -----Original Message----- Hello I have two servers in my cluster setup (win2K), each with 8GB RAM. -----Original Message----- Thanks Allan What about the page file size, I guess start at 2GB, Max 3Gb? Page file is partially irrelevant since you're dealing with physical memory, not virtual, and it would only really be used if you AV the system for a memory dump. So 2 to 3 GB should be OK, but again, test. -----Original Message----- Thanks Allan What about the page file size, I guess start at 2GB, Max 3Gb?
