Default Loopback adapter as a resource and listening on it for client connections - 02-27-2004 , 07:16 PM

Hi,

We are setting up Virtual IPs for all the services that we provide
to clients. The virtual IP address will reside on a network
equipment, a Extreme Networks SUMMIT48si switch. We are trying to
configure it in a mode, where it is required to have a loopback
adapter with the same IP address as the virtual IP address on the real
server being used.

Now I know how to create a loopback adapter.
I know how to make SQL server listen on multiple adapters in a
cluster.
I know how to add a network IP address as a resource.

But can these work together? Not a very common scenario, but I need
this very badly. Can anyone throw some light on this problem?

Regards

zrb
