Issues with perfmon -

Greetings,
I'm having trouble connecting to a remote WS 2003 machine with the
perfmon tool. I can log on locally as the same domain user and run the
tool without any issues, but when querying the counters from a remote
machine (or monitoring tools that automate this) the connection times
out. Once in awhile I will be able to establish a successful
connection, but 99% of the time it fails whether I use \\MACHINENAME or
\\MACHINE-IP.
I've Googled this to death and haven't come up with any solution yet.
I've verified permissions are correct on registry keys and on
%SystemRoot%\System32\Perfc009.dat and
%SystemRoot%\System32\Perfh009.dat.
I can also run the Extensible counter tool (exctrlst.exe) with no
issues.
This server is part of an SQL cluster, and the SQL specific monitoring
tools work fine remotely. The other servers in the cluster are
virtually identical (as far as I can tell), and do not have this issue.
Has anyone else ever run across this problem?
thanks in advance for your input. |
