Default Install new sql 2008 intance on exsisting sql server 2005 cluster - 03-04-2009 , 02:48 AM

Hi All,
I have 2 active/passive SQL Server 2005 Enterprise (x86) cluster. and it's
properly working..
I want to install new SQL Server 2008 Cluster on the existing SQL server
2005 cluster. Firstly is it possible? Then must i follow the different
procedure during installing new instance on existing cluster.

Thanks

Yes, mixed version clusters are supported in SQL Server.

Installing SQL 2008 is different from SQL 2005. Read up on the new
procedures. They are much easier. You will like them a lot better than the
SQL 2005 installer.

Follow the rules for installing a second instance and you will be fine. You
will need a new disk, IP address, and network name for the new instance.

Each instance has to have its own unique set of disks. Disks cannot ve
shared across instances.
