Default HOw to change sql service account password on Cluster SQL server - 12-25-2003 , 04:03 AM






Hi

we do have two node SQL cluster on windows 2003
mssqlserver,sqlserveragent and clusterservice are using
same service account.
We need to change password for these service..
is there any article on how to change the password for sql
service and cluster service account on cluster

any pointers and suggestion would be highly appreciated

It is best to do this using Enterprise Manager. Please refer to Books
Online topic "Changing Passwords and User Accounts".

Thanks for the reply,
i understood how to change password from Enterprise
manager but
changing password for one virtual server is enough or do
we need to change the password on other virtual server on
SQL Cluster

How many virtual SQL Servers do you have ? If you have one virtual SQL
Server and you want to change the password for the service accounts then
you need to do it once for the SQL Server Service and SQL Server Agent
service for that particular virtual SQL Server using SEM. This the same
that you would have done for a standalone (non-virtual) SQL Server.

For each SQL virtual server, you must change it in EM for
each instance. It is not a change once, apply to each
instance thing.
