Default Hard Disk Planning for Active\Passive - 01-19-2004 , 04:03 PM

My company are planning a SQL cluster in Active\Passive mode.

In a similiar vain to the earlier post regarding Active\Active - what should
be my disk layout?

Each server will have a RAID 1 setup and will connect to a SAN.

The database is about 7GB in size.

At present the SAN is specified with 5x36GB disks. Performance doesn't have
to be screaming but it needs to be a resiliant as possible.

Should I order more disks?

What should the disk layout be?

RAID 1+0 for the data drives - partitioned between logs and data?
RAID 1 - for the Quorom.

??

In this situation obviously that is 6 drives in the SAN.

Any advice would be gratefully received!

Thanks

Jof
