Default get cluster AS to run on a specific port - 07-27-2009 , 01:55 AM

Hi,

I have just built a three way - three node (active\active\active) analysis
server cluster.
I would like to configure each analysis server to run on a specific port so
that I can open hat port on the firewall.

I set the port in the server properties and restarted the server, however I
think the server is no running on that port.
I think that because when I try to connect from a remote computer and the
firewall is up I initially get the message that port 2382 is close and it
can't connect to the redirector (sql browser server), so I open port 2382,
next thing I am told that he analysis server can't connect to port 2383 -
even though I told it to run on a completely different port.

can anybody please tell me how I always get analysis server to run on the
same specific port everytime it is started.

also can anybody please tell me how I would connect to a specific port of
analysis server using SSMS.

say for instance the AS is running on 2383, I figured that I could connect
via management studio using

servername\insancename,2382

however this does not work, but similar syntax works for the db engine.

any help appreciated.

cheers

martin.
